Training modules for first responders and local authorities

A training is a structured process designed to impart or develop specific skills, knowledge, or abilities in individuals. It’s an intentional effort to improve a person’s capability, productivity, and performance in relation to a specific competency. Training is distinct from general education in that it has a very practical, and often immediate, goal: to help someone do something better. With this approach in mind, the RESILIAGE training package is structured to not only contain theoretical explanations but to give participants the opportunity to try what they have learnt through various practical exercises across the package.

The RESILIAGE Training module for first responders and local authorities consists of the following four modules:

· Risk awareness (here): this module focuses on how to update the public’s perception of risk and use a holistic, integrated approach to disaster risk management.

· Capacity building: this module focuses on how to involve and empower citizens in disaster risk management, including participatory risk mapping and mobilizing community resources.

· Risk communication: this module focuses on learning to use the different communication channels and empathetic approaches to effectively communicate with diverse audiences throughout an emergency.

· Multiagency teamwork: this module focuses on gaining the essential knowledge for working with multiple agencies, understanding the challenges of multiagency teams, and developing key features necessary for effective multiagency disaster response.
