Natural and social disasters

It is important to highlight that the impacts of natural disasters are closely linked to the economic and political conditions of the location where they occur. For example, in Greece, after more than 15 years of “crisis” and “austerity,” public services have been decimated, infrastructure and the welfare state have been dismantled, and responsibility has shifted to individuals. This creates significant challenges for vulnerable populations, who are often the first to be affected by natural disasters.
