Art Historian & Cultural Manager at the Uxío Novoneyra Foundation, at the heart of Courel Mountains Geopark and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Galicia, north Spain.

Through the Foundation we manage the birth-house museum of Uxío Novoneyra, one of the most prominent voices in Galician poetry of the 20th century, as well as the chestnut tree forests surrounding the house, which are protected under the Árboles Senlleiras de Galicia natural heritage category.

In 2022 a devastating wildfire, the second biggest one in the history of Spain, swept away close to half of the territory that encompasses the Geopark, which fortunately came to a stop 2km away from our headquarters. After assessing the fires, it became clear that the most powerful tool we’ve got is looking back at the traditional practices our community managed for centuries.

Those practices are the ones we plan to strengthen through our cooperation with Resiliage.
